Graffiti, street art, urban interventions, street performances, and actionism of Nizhny Novgorod, collected in one unique book. Street artist Nikita Nomerz is the author of the encyclopedia. The book provides a detailed chronology of street art in Nizhny Novgorod from 1980 to 2020. The encyclopedia includes biographies of key Nizhny Novgorod street artists of different generations and style.
In this encyclopedia, you will find a glossary of graffiti and street art terms, as well as an overview of iconic places for street art and the work of visiting artists. Each edition is accompanied by a street art map of Nizhny Novgorod. The Encyclopedia of Street Art of Nizhny Novgorod is 352 pages long and features a unique archive of 644 photographs. The edition is limited to 1000 copies.
Architectural Bureau was founded in 2007 by architect Stas Gorshunov. The bureau specializes in architecture and interior design, support in the implementation. The bureau’s projects include both private facilities and objects of public importance. The restoration of the interior of the Nizhny Novgorod State academic Philharmonic is one of the largest projects of the bureau. It changed the traditional approach to the organization of the indoor space for performances.
GORA also implemented such projects as the Record Cultural Center, the Sakharov Museum, the second pavilion of the Fair, the Referee tower at Grebnoy Channel. Many of the bureau’s projects have won prizes in architecture and urbanism.
Geometria.ru Nizhny Novgorod is a project about the city, culture and music. On their website you can see photo and video reports from memorable occasions, read announcements of major events, interviews and reviews of the latest movie premieres. Their community page has 21,000 followers on a Russian social media VK.com.
Glazami Ochevidtsa (Eyes of an Eyewitness) is a book that covers one of the major events of national history — the XVI All-Russian Industrial and Art Exhibition, held in Nizhny Novgorod in 1896. It was written by Professor of the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering Tatyana Vinogradova.
The narrative is based on the works of the Nizhny Novgorod educator and journalist Vasily Ivanovich Vinogradov, the grandfather of the book’s author. Vasily Vinogradov was one of the first to give an accurate and in-depth description of the exhibition processes, from the preparations to the closing ceremony.
Alexander Shimanov is a Russian graphic designer from Nizhny Novgorod, working under alias Stan. He has been a designer since 1999, exploring letters in all their manifestations. He mostly does lettering, font design, brand identity, calligraphy, graffiti. One of Alexander’s biggest projects was the Urban Roots magazine that centers on street art and graffiti. He also acted as a designer for the Russian Olympic team, Spartak and Dynamo football clubs and Lonsdale clothing brand.
He also came up with a unique "Nizhny Novgorod" font, while experimenting with ancient decorative Cyrillic lettering called Vyaz. The font is a modern interpretation of this style of lettering and an attempt to adapt it to the challenges of our time.
Anton Martsev is a local tour guide. He has a series of tours, Nedolgo Vechnye Aktsenty (Not Long/Term Accents), centered on the desire to rediscover Nizhny Novgorod, to look at familiar streets from a different perspective, to notice details you haven’t noticed before. Veduta Nizhegorodika, another tour guided by Anton, is an account of where famous artists lived and what they did in Nizhny Novgorod. His tours promote a different, alternative approach to sightseeing.

Closely), yet another tour, highlights details that are usually overlooked — window frames, manhole covers, stamps on bricks.
HVOYA is a serial production of eco-friendly pine lamps and pine decor. It was founded in 2015 by designer Anna Feoktistova. The brand has its own lathe with modern woodworking equipment, where wooden masterpieces are manufactured by hand. HVOYA lamps have a simple and clear design.
Pine has a beautiful wood grain, which is the main feature of the lamps. This makes each product truly unique.
The International Media Art Festival INTERVALS is traditionally held in Nizhny Novgorod. The geography of the festival participants covers Russia, the USA, Europe and Asia. The mission of the festival is to make media art understandable and accessible to everyone.
INTERVALS is a large-scale free media exhibition that takes place in architectural locations in the historical center of the city, featuring a diverse educational program and a series of audio-visual performances and musical events. The festival is organized by dreamlaser studio and curator Ksyusha Chekhovskaya.
