Khrupkie Mechty (Fragile Dreams) is a unique space in Nizhny Novgorod that houses a collection of dolls from the eminent Hildegard Günzel. It was founded in 2018 by philanthropist Olga Lobacheva. The exhibition presents dolls made in limited edition. It also features some original copies, particulary valuable. There are even dolls that exist in a single copy and are made exclusively for this collection.
Günzel dolls look lifelike: they have glowing beautiful faces, intelligent eyes, real soft hair. They wear exquisite outfits made of expensive fabrics with handmade lace and custom-made jewelry. Günzel is the only one who uses completely white porcelain of unique composition, and then tints it by hand, which gives the dolls a hyper-realistic look.
