Since the festival’s inception, people have been saying goodbye to summer days in style — to songs and dances amid stunning views of the sunset sky and bright fireworks. Stolitsa Zakatov has been held since 2021 and was one of the key events of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod. In 2021, more than 30 artists of different genres performed at the festival — from locals to international stars, such as Eldzhey, Klava Koka, Leonid Agutin, Zivert and others.
The festival has its own anthem, which was written by the duo of hitmakers Going Deeper. In 2022, the festival has already spread to several venues with programs of varying formats and atmospheres, from local street musicians to mass social dances, from classical music and jazz concerts to indie and dance DJ sets. The program also includes gastronomic events, workshops and markets.
The TOY team is a duo of young artists, founded in 2012. They work in the genre of Nizhny Novgorod street art. The artists call themselves "chroniclers of everyday life," depicting street aesthetics. In their work, they interpret memories from childhood, school, and life in general. Because of this, their works may look simple, primitive, childish, even.
Working with urban space, they develop the idea of graffiti tagging: they often incorporate the name of their team into their work. The duo from Nizhny Novgorod took part in the Garage Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art, the art residence of the Street Art Museum and a number of group exhibitions. They also held solo exhibitions, such as "Diskomfortnaia Sreda" and "Bytovukha" in Moscow, "Chto takoe khorosho i chto takoe plokho" in Nizhny Novgorod.
Strelka Jazz Festival is the first annual jazz festival in Nizhny Novgorod. It promotes jazz culture in Nizhny Novgorod and the region. The jazz festival was held from August to September 2022 at various concert venues in the region and the city. Open creative meetings and workshops with participants, jam sessions and live show were held as part of the festival.
The first Strelka festival received 94 entries from 27 Russian cities. A total of 11 venues, 19 live shows, a line-up of 98 bands, and an audience of 20000, as well as 4 vocal and instrumental master classes were held during the festival. Not to mention 21 hours of non-stop live jazz music.
Studio Nizhny is a musical melodrama about the city, in which the city itself is the main character, with its own history, life and character. Directed by Evgeny Kudelnikov, the film tells the story of the talented photographer Nikita Pirogov, who creates "timeless" portraits using 19th-century technology. Nikita is in love with the disappearing old city, so he undergoes a series of tests of loyalty to his craft, his first love and his principles.
Thrilling storylines, a great soundtrack, and city sights in the background all make the film so special. The action takes place in the present, past and future of Nizhny Novgorod. Particular attention is paid to the old Nizhny Novgorod legends. The filming started in 2011, it took eight years to finish the project. It was released on the City Day in the best cinemas of the Volga capital, becoming a calling card of Nizhny Novgorod.
The idea behind The Clou brand is that clothes should only compliment your appearance, emphasizing the reflexivity and self-awareness of personality and the aesthetic experiences of the individual.
The collections feature both minimalist pieces and pieces of complex design: deconstructed garments, pieces with creative trimming, transformable clothes.
Teatralnaia Strelka is an all-Russian festival-competition of independent theaters. It was first held in April 2019. Performances, discussions, readings of plays, round tables, and lectures are held as part of the program. At the end of the festival, the best troupes and artists are awarded by professional theater critics from Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as by the expert council, comprised of prominent figures of Nizhny Novgorod — experts in the field of culture and art, and journalists.
The festival is held by the Nizhny Novgorod Theater Arts Center. Teatralnaia Strelka introduces the Nizhny Novgorod audience to the theatrical experience of other Russian cities, new theatrical forms and innovative approaches. Thanks to the festival's main program, independent theaters in Russia form a profile of contemporary theater and have the opportunity to discuss the present and future of theater within their professional community. The parallel program of Teatralnaia Strelka is dedicated to experimentation: in the course of the second festival-competition the audience could see the transfer of the meaning of the site-specific works into new dimentions.
The main focus of the project is to support and promote young Nizhny Novgorod art. Terminal A is the starting point where aspiring artists and curators learn the basics of exhibition work, mountmaking, as well as curatorial and managerial work. The space is considered part of a former 19th-century shipyard complex that is developing as an art cluster.
The space also hosts guest exhibitions featuring renowned all-Russian artists, with young local artists taking part. In the future, the project will become a kind of " home of the artist," where the craftsmen will be able to communicate directly with the viewer, displaying not only the finished project, but also the "behind the scenes" of the creative process.
